Coal India and Bharat Petroleum Corporation (BPCL), a Maharatna PSU under the Ministry of Petroleum & Natural Gas, Government of India, have executed a Non-Binding Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on December 02, 2024 in Mumbai to explore setting up of Coal to Synthetic Natural Gas Project at WCL through Surface Coal Gasification.

Coal India is the world’s largest coal mining company. It also produces non-coking coal and coking coal of various grades for diverse applications.
