The investment attitude in India is evolving. Investors are opening up their portfolios for varied modern and rare instruments due to the overall ease of investing. One such investment asset is commodity derivatives. They are not very modern but are less considered by retail investors due to their inherent risk factor.
Derivatives can be understood as a contract for a trade taking place in the future at the decided price. In India, a prominent commodity market is MCX or Multi Commodity Exchange of India. As derivatives are a future trade, understanding their sessions, schedules and commodity market holidays can help investors plan their trades in advance.
