Chart School: Hammer Candlestick- Rules and Significance

A Hammer is one of the most recognized single-candle reversal patterns, and PNB Housing Finance's chart from March offers a clean textbook example worth studying. What defines a Hammer: a small real body near the top of the candle's range, a long lower wick at least twice the length of the body, and little to no upper wick. It typically forms after a decline, showing that sellers pushed price sharply lower during the session, but buyers stepped in forcefully enough to drag price back up near the open, rejecting the lower levels. On the

PNBHOUSING
chart, this exact pattern appeared near the March lows around 1,000–1,050, after a multi-week decline from the January highs. The stock went on to rally sharply from that zone through April and May, eventually testing new highs — a useful real-world illustration of what a confirmed Hammer can lead to. The key rule often missed: a Hammer alone is not a buy signal. It needs confirmation, typically a bullish candle closing above the Hammer's high on the next session, alongside supportive volume. Acting on the Hammer before this confirmation is one of the more common mistakes traders make with this pattern. A Hammer signals seller exhaustion and a potential shift in control to buyers, but its reliability comes from confirmation on the following session, not from the single candle in isolation. GYFTR signs service deal with Punjab National Bank for coupon reselling

GYFTR has signed a service agreement with

PNB
for customer engagement and reselling coupons. The deal establishes GYFTR as a service provider to the bank, enabling coupon-based customer engagement solutions. No financial terms or duration were disclosed. Under the deal, GYFTR will design, build and operate a white-label digital platform featuring PNB’s branding, through which eligible credit card holders can access curated offers from participating consumer brands. The platform is expected to cover categories including shopping, food delivery, entertainment, dining and travel. GYFTR will supply the underlying technology, payment infrastructure and merchant integrations required to run the platform, handling the full customer journey from the PNB-branded interface through to redemption at participating brand outlets and websites. Serving a client of PNB's scale elevates GYFTR’s standing in the enterprise tech space. This track record makes it significantly easier to secure similar high-value integration contracts with other domestic and international banking institutions. Instead of expending heavy internal capital, time, and engineering talent to build a proprietary system from scratch, PNB effectively outsources the platform risk. GYFTR handles the complex merchant integrations and the complete transactional journey. PNB
The trendline breakout occurs when the price decisively moves above a downward-sloping resistance trendline, indicating that selling pressure is weakening. In this PNB chart, the price has broken above the blue trendline with a strong bullish candle, signalling a potential trend reversal or continuation of upward momentum. A sustained move above the breakout zone, preferably with strong volume, can strengthen the breakout confirmation.
