JSW Energy Limited is an Indian power company that generates electricity using thermal and renewable energy sources. Its segments include Thermal, which includes the generation of electricity from coal and other thermal sources (lignite, gas and oil) at its facilities and related support services; and renewable energy, which includes the generation of electricity from renewable energy sources using hydro, wind, solar, and related support services. It has factories in Baspa, Karcham Wangtoo, Barmer, Vijayanagar and Ratnagiri. The Baspa plant is located in the upper reaches of the Himalayas and has a production capacity of approximately 300 megawatts (MW). The Karcham Wangtoo plant is located on the banks of the Satluj River in Kinnaur district of Himachal Pradesh and has a generating capacity of about 1,091 MW. The Barmer plant is located close to its fuel source, the Kapurdi and Jalipa lignite mines. The Vijayanagar plant is located in Karnataka and consists of two separate business units, BU I and SBU I.
